Classroom Library Organization

This summer I have been organizing my books for my classroom library.

I decided to keep track of each book by using the website Classroom Booksource. This is a great website that tells you how many books you have, along with the genre, reading level, and grade levels. You can go to the site here. Students are even able to check out books through this site, but that's a feature I won't be using. Instead I have library cards for students to write their names on (more about that below).
This is the screen you'll see when you sign into your teacher account after you add books. From this screen you can add books. To add a book, go to the top and type in the ISBN number:
After you put in the ISBN number it'll either be in the system or not. If not, you can add details. Sometimes I had to look up the books on a another site. I used the Scholastic Book Wizard to help with this. It gave me the reading levels and a picture for the book. If it didn't show up on that, I just Googled it.

I wanted to add an image for each book because they didn't always show up. If you click on the image box you can upload an image. I would just copy it from a website or take a picture of the book cover and upload it. Then you can add details for each book.

You can also search for titles within your classroom library.
This site also gives you a breakdown of how many fiction or nonfiction books you have and gives you suggestions to add to your library. You can find those on the Dashboard.
There is an app you can use on your phone or iPad to scan the ISBN numbers that will automatically add those titles to your library.

Once I put my books in the Booksource site, I put labels on each book. I used the guide below:
Each book has a colored label with a star sticker based on reading level.
I used labels I got from Walmart. You can get them on Amazon but they are a lot cheaper at Walmart. I did wipe them out many times of their labels! These are the labels I used:

I put a label and star sticker on each book and covered it with packaging tape so they won't come off.

I made category labels for books too, including genres, authors, and book series. You can get these from my TpT Store (see link below). You will need the LLElementaryDots font in order to display it correctly. You can get the font for free on TpT from Lovin Lit.

You can get these Avery labels on Amazon. You can download the template from Avery.

Students will check out books by using library cards in books.

Each student will have their own pocket to keep their check-out cards in. I got those on Amazon.

For the inside of the books, I used library cards with adhesive pockets. I also got those on Amazon:
I wrote the title of each book and put it on the card.
