DIY Lorax Mustache Mask

This week we are celebrating Read Across America Week. Tomorrow is Lorax Day and I did not have anything orange to wear or a mustache. I decided to make my own! The best part...it only cost $2.50 for the supplies! I got the template here. I got yellow and orange felt, necklace clasps, ribbon, and yarn or cords. I got everything at Walmart and found the orange ribbon necklace for $1. You can easily get your own necklace clasps and ribbon too.

Trace the mustache pattern on two orange felt pieces and one yellow piece.

After cutting them out, stack them on top of each other, with the yellow piece in the middle. Sew the three pieces together at the top.

Grab yarn or cord for the top of the mustache part. Fold it into equal parts. Place it at the top of the mustache, in the middle. Sew it in place. You will need to go over it quite a few time to keep the cord in place. Give each side a tug to make sure there aren't any loose pieces.

Once they are sewed on, the cut the middle of each side.

Attached the ribbons to the necklace clasps and then sew them on each side of the mask. I put the ribbons around my head first to estimate how big each side should be.

Once the ribbons are sewed on, try it on and adjust it as necessary. Put the ribbons on the top of the ears to fit snuggly.

There you have a Lorax mustache mask!

Dr. Seuss Shoes

To celebrate Read Across America Week, I have been wearing my Dr. Seuss Teacher of All Things shoes. I get compliments whenever I wear them.

They are about $60 and come from China, so it takes a few weeks to get them. They are very comfortable and have removeable insoles, which was great to use with my orthopedic inserts.

If you'd like to get a pair, visit the website:
